5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Indonesia

Kendari: An earthquake measuring 5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday Kendari city, eastern Indonesia.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the epicenter of the quake occurred 72 km from the Indonesian Kendari, at a depth of 9.3 km. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage.

Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
