Tonga: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck on Thursday Tonga Islands located in the South Pacific Ocean.

According to Qatar News Agency, the earthquake occurred 156 km from the Neiafu area, at a depth of 10 km, as reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS).

No reports have been received yet of any human losses or material damage due to the earthquake.

Tonga is an archipelago of 176 islands scattered in the South Pacific Ocean, of which only 52 are inhabited, located northwest of New Zealand and Australia.
