5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Northern Iceland

An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit on Sunday west of the city of Hofn, northern Iceland.

The earthquake occurred 144 km from Reykjavik, capital of Iceland, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake.

Last December, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwest of Iceland. (QNA
