5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Fiji

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck on Thursday the Fiji Islands, located in the South Pacific Ocean.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake's epicenter was located 219 km west of Lautoka, at a depth of 10 km.

There are no reports yet of any human losses or material damage caused by the earthquake.

Fiji Islands are located in an area called the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, which is exposed from time to time to numerous tremors and aftershocks, which can sometimes be strong.
