5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea: An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 47 km from Kandrian district, at a depth of 60.3 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. There have been no reports of human losses or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

Papua New Guinea is located in the so-called Ring of Fire, which is characterized by high earthquake and volcanic activity. This region includes 90% of the world's active volcanoes. In February 2018, the country was hit by a devastating earthquake that killed at least 100 people and caused landslides that buried dozens of villages.
