5.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes South of Kermadec Islands Off New Zealand

An earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Monday south of the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake.

The Kermadec Islands are about 1,000 km northeast of New Zealand’s North Island and are often exposed to strong earthquakes.
