Doha: The 48th edition of the Saleh Saqr Ramadan Football Championship will kick off Sunday under the supervision of the Qatar Football Association at Doha Sports Stadium with the participation of 16 teams. The tournament continues until March 21.
According to Qatar News Agency, in the opening match, reigning champions Kafood will face Construction Engineering at 9 PM. The second match of the night, starting at 10:30 PM, will feature Hargeisa and Friday within the same group.
The draw for the tournament resulted in the participating teams being divided into four groups. Group A includes last year’s champions Kafood, Construction Engineering, Hargeisa, and Friday FIFA. Group B comprises last year’s runner-up Mushaireb, Ansar Gallery, Doha Union, and Al Nasr FC. Group C features Kenya FC, the Gambian team, Saik Al Khair Restaurants, and the Somali community, while Group D consists of Al Muntazah FC, Al Jazeera FC, Box to Box, and National Exchange.
Imran Saleh Saqr, the tournament’s general supervisor, confirmed that the organizing committee has made all necessary arrangements for the new edition, which will see several teams participating for the first time.
