Kharkiv: A total of 46 people, including children, were injured in an attack carried out by the Russian army on Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, located about 30 kilometers from the country's northeastern border.
According to Qatar News Agency, Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said in a Telegram post that Russia launched a large-scale drone attack late Friday targeting a high-rise residential building, sparking fires and injuring 46 people. He noted that the airstrikes hit 12 locations across four central districts of the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the repeated drone strikes, which have been targeting Ukrainian cities several times a week. In a message on Telegram, he said dozens of drones had been launched and criticized Kyiv's allies for their slow response in strengthening Ukraine's air defense systems.
Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense units destroyed 10 Ukrainian drones within the span of an hour - eight over Bryansk border region and two over Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014.
Acting governor of Rostov region on Ukraine's eastern border, Yury Slyusar, said air defense units shot down Ukrainian drones in five districts. He confirmed that falling debris caused damage to several homes, though no injuries were reported.
Both Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of targeting residential buildings with drones, while both deny responsibility for such attacks.
