Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the quake was 127 km west of Gizo, at a depth of 59.3 km. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
The Solomon Islands are located in an area known for seismic activity and strong earthquakes.
