Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia on Sunday. The seismic event has drawn attention due to its location and impact on the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the quake was located in the sea, 86 km west of Sinabang town, at a depth of 2 km. This region is known for its vulnerability to seismic activities, given its geographical positioning.
Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes as it is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
