An earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale hit on Wednesday Tacna province in southern Peru.
The epicenter of the tremor occurred 49 km north of Palca district in the province, at a depth of 116.7 km, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
There have been no reports of casualties or material losses due to the earthquake so far.
Peru is exposed to at least 400 earthquakes yearly due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a point of seismic activity that extends along the western coast of the South American continent.
