4.8-Magnitude Earthquake Struck Vanuatu

Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Vanuatu on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported in a statement that the earthquake occurred 194 kilometers from the town of Isangel, at a depth of 35 kilometers.

No causalities or material damage have been reported. Vanuatu, a volcanic archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean, lies within the Ring of Fire: a region known for intense seismic and volcanic activity.
