Lima: An earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Tuesday in the Alto Amazonas province in Peru.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred 52 kilometers from the city of Yurimaguas, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage. Peru experiences an average of at least 400 earthquakes annually due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a major zone of seismic activity that stretches along the western coast of the Americas.
