4.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes US State of Alaska


Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Alaska Wednesday. The US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 117 kilometers south of Atka, at a depth of 11.8 kilometers.



According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Alaska sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire where tectonic plates converge, leading to intense seismic and volcanic activity.
