4.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Fiji Islands

Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday Fiji islands in the south Pacific Ocean.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the epicenter of the quake occurred south of the Fiji Islands, at a depth of 574.2 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

Fiji experiences frequent seismic activity as it lies within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a major area of tectonic activity.
