4.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Chile

San Antonio: An earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Chile on Sunday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake was 22 km from the city of San Antonio, at a depth of 52.7 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage.

Chile is highly prone to earthquakes due to its location along the Ring of Fire. In 2010, a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake, followed by a tsunami, struck central and southern Chile, killing around 500 people.
