Santiago: An earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck central Chile, with no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 65.4 km, 18 km south of Coquimbo.
Chile is located in the so-called Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, where earthquakes and volcanoes are active.
