Algiers: The 28th Algiers International Book Fair commenced on Wednesday, featuring the participation of 1,254 publishing houses representing 49 countries. The event is scheduled to run until November 8.
According to Qatar News Agency, the fair is organized under the theme "The Book: A Meeting Place of Cultures." It includes contributions from 290 Algerian publishing houses, 410 publishers from Arab countries, and 554 foreign publishers. Additionally, over 250 writers and intellectuals from Algeria, Africa, and various other countries are participating in the event.
The cultural program of the fair is set to include 55 events. These events comprise lectures and seminars focusing on novels and children's literature, alongside sessions dedicated to exploring creativity in the age of artificial intelligence. Discussions on memory, history, and poetry evenings advocating for humanitarian causes are also part of the program.
