16 Million Syrians in Urgent Need of Health Support, Says WHO Director-General

Doha: Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that nearly 16 million people in Syria are in urgent need of health support.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Ghebreyesus, through his post on X, highlighted the expansion of lifesaving healthcare initiatives made possible by a $3 million contribution from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF). This funding is aimed at aiding over half a million people by delivering essential medical services, strengthening disease surveillance, and providing mental healthcare in areas most affected by displacement.

He emphasized the critical need for mental health services to support those severely impacted by displacement, underscoring the increased support this area has received from donors.
