11 Soldiers Killed in Armed Attack in Northern Niger


Niamey: Eleven soldiers from Niger’s Defense and Security Forces (FDS) were killed in an attack carried out by an Al-Qaeda-linked armed group in the north of the country. The assault targeted an army patrol, leading to multiple casualties.



According to Qatar News Agency, the ambush resulted not only in the deaths of 11 soldiers but also in injuries to others. The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region.



Northern Niger frequently witnesses attacks by armed groups that target security forces. The region also serves as a significant transit route for African migrants attempting to reach Europe.
