1 Killed, 2 Injured in Sydney Stabbing Attack

Sydney: One person was killed and two others injured in a stabbing attack in Sydney, Australian police announced Tuesday. A statement from New South Wales Police said that emergency services were dispatched to a neighborhood in western Sydney following reports of a man stabbing several people before fleeing on foot.

According to Qatar News Agency, Detective Superintendent Simon Glasser said the attack took place on a busy commercial street, and paramedics treated three people for serious injuries, including a man in his thirties who died at the scene. He added that the other two victims, a 22-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Glasser indicated that the man was arrested shortly afterward during a police operation in the area, noting that the suspect is known to police for minor offenses and several mental health-related incidents. The investigation is still in its early stages, and authorities do not yet know the motive behind the attack. However, it appears to have been a random attack.
